Goals of the Course

The GT1000 course demonstrates Georgia Tech's commitment to the successful transition and experience of new members to our community. It continues the lessons begun at FASET Orientation. Specific goals are as follows:

1. To assist students in their transition to and success at Georgia Tech by providing opportunities for students to develop personal and academic skills.

2. To provide opportunities to develop relationships with students, faculty and administrators and the larger GT community.

3. To offer instruction and practice in a range of learning skills, time management and organizational skills, caeer understanding and self assessment.

4. To introduce students to the wide array of helpful resources on campus, presented at times that traditionally students have need to know of them, thus increasing their helpfulness.

5. To engage students in their major curriculum through exploration of coursework, exposure to opportunities in their major including research and study abroad, and development of future career goals through interviews with people in the field and access to informational resources.
