Teaching GT1000

We recruit instructors year-round, and start most new teachers in fall term after an extensive training program. Returning teachers are welcome in spring and summer as well.

Both faculty and professional staff are welcome to teach the course. The minimum qualifications for instructors include (1) at least a minimum of a masters degree (2) permission from a supervisor or department head/chair (3) employed at Georgia Tech for at least one year and (4) enthusiasm for teaching college freshmen. All new instructors are required to attend a two-day training session in early summer. In addition, we also welcome co-instructors for certain sections of the course.

For new GT 1000 instructors, there are several steps involved in the process of becoming an instructor:

  1. Contact Dr. Steven Girardot in Success Programs for a meeting to discuss the course and the commitment of teaching it.
  2. Complete the relevant application with supervisor or department chair signature and additional requested documentation.
  3. Sign up for the class day and time that works best with your availability.

Please contact Dr. Steven Girardot at (404) 894-1945 or steven.girardot@vpss.gatech.edu if you'd like to find out more information or schedule an appointment.
